Regional Meetings
CAMRA is divided into 16 regions across the UK – each headed up by an elected volunteer Regional Director, supported by other regional volunteers. Following a National review, our Greater Manchester Region has merged with West Pennines Region (consisting Lancashire, Cumbria and the Isle Of Man) to form a new North West Region, and Ralph Warrington was duly elected as Regional Director. There are 17 Branches in this North West Region, plus a sub-branch in Salford. Click here to see the details of those Branches. North West Region Branches
Our Branch resides in the Greater Manchester Area
Generally, every three months, representatives of the branches in the Greater Manchester Area meet to discuss area, regional and national issues. The elected Regional Director, Ralph Warrington, attends and meetings are rotated around the branches. The hosting branch chooses a suitable pub that has the space needed, and chairs the event. Meetings start at 1pm and run for two hours or so.
Like all CAMRA meetings any member can attend and these meetings can get quite lively! They are also very informative. An invitation to members of the National Executive means there is a different guest speaker each time. Area and Regional items are discussed and agreed - such as Pub, Club and Cider Pub of the Year contests, plus various beer festivals in the region and beyond.
Several ROB members play an important and key role, as well as providing many volunteer helpers and judges.
